DONE!!!! I beat you

That's right thing #23 is here... I have to say I liked the learning experience. I was familiar with about 1/3 of the topics covered but overall it was indeed beneficial.. I had no idea there were so many generators!!! I love them....never knew how to tag, and del.icio.us is very useful!!! Podcasting was also fun, I hear about them all the time but never took the time to see what they were all about... Oh and librarything is nice as well.... Although, as I moved along I began to notice what an impact the Internet has on all of us, and how it is possibly inhibiting us from life... How everything we need is here at our convenience on our computers. we hardly need to leave anymore except to maybe go to the bathroom. It's quite frightening how easily we all now have the opportunity to live through a computer. Instead of going to the neighbors, vacationing, visiting distant relatives, or a library we can logon and "live".... I remember when I was younger I swore to my friends the idea of computers & the Internet were created by aliens to trap our minds, preoccupy our brains to block out the world around us... Is this rambling, I'm sure it is... But as i went through these exercises it became more apparent to me how easy it is to rely souly on a computer... Anyhow, it was a long journey and I did enjoy being introduced to new things.... The End................... for now : )

Audio Books

Never done an audio book before so i thought this would be a fun venture for me... I was not to impressed with the PDL (Phoenix Digital Library) though : ( ...... Everything I wanted was either non existent, or was checked out... So I decided to try something new... New Age to be exact... it was a book called "Igniting Intuition" which I thought sounded interesting to me in trying to find my purpose here on Earth and to help cope with these new womanly hormones I'm experiencing.. ahem... anyways, I think it was a little too "old" for me, wasn't really what I was expecting... I'm not experiencing back pain or other common woes older woman face, but I would definitely recommend it to my later self... Still it was nice to try out an "audiobook". Luckily I ran into no problems downloading OverDrive and getting my books, it turned out to be very easy.

Thing 21, I'm almost done!!!

I used Learn Out Loud....I signed up for the NOVA podcast, it seemed most interesting to me... I love NOVA & PBS, so I'm looking forward to using this podcast regularly in the future and possibly subscribing to a video cast if they have one... here's the link

You Tubin'

You've probably seen it, but its a great song & probably the best music video I've ever seen

Thing #19

This was neat... I love music so of course I used one of the music themed Web2.0 tools.... I went to http://www.pandora.com/... This site was very cool, you can basically make you own radio station out of you favorite songs.. Then they take the music you like and try to introduce you to new music which I like ALOT!!! They were very accurate as far as other bands I would like.... I can see why they were awarded #1 music tool/site... check em out

GoogleDocs

I created an account with GoogleDocs and posted a teen reading list I had created here in Knowasis.... It's a rather large document so I'll just post the link... Well that's all for now here's the link... http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=ddbh3r6s_1cth5cwfg

Thing #16 & 17

I got a little lazy on posting to my blog... I actually just finished #19.. So I'll try to refresh my memory.... I found the wiki's to be useful.. I like that anyone has the ability to update the site. The draw back, unfortunately, is the reliability of the information posted... I used to use wikipedia all the time until I found out just anyone could update it. I went to the SPLS wiki & posted my blog and added my favorite sushi restaraunt Ah-So to the restaraunt page...

Thing #15

The OCLC Next Space Newsletter was very informative. I really liked "Into a New World of Librarianship" and "To a Temporary Place in Time". I have always loved working in the library, and in the near future I want to continue my education to get my MLS. These two articles were especially interesting to me because it gave some insight as to where the library is headed in the future..

Technorati

Learning how to tag a blog post was neat.. I googled one of my entries and it came right up, but putting the tags on something is an added bonus... I don't know that I would use this very often, but now I know how to just incase... and I do like knowing a little bit about coding... for instance... the trademark symbol I used in the recipe you add & trade ; (with no spacing in between) at the end of the phrase you want in HTML... for instance HeatherTyme™... anywho I'm tagging this one as well...

Mutant Mushroom Lasagna

The name for this lasagna came as a joke... One of the mushrooms was actually double headed!! Yes a siamese mushroom, I probably could have gotten 3 bucks for it on ebay, but I thought I would give my lasagna charicter.... This was my first time ever making lasagna, and writing a recipe for it... I never follow recipies, so hopefully it works out...

Pescetarianism: another note

About a week ago I decided to become a vegetarian... Well actually the technical term is pescetarianism, meaning I only eat vegetables and seafood.. Why you ask, the FDA recently approved CLONED livestock to be butchered.. My thoughts, I did not come from cloning, so why would I put it in my body. Just my personal feelings, I would NEVER impose my own views on anyone else.... Don't worry... So far so good, I didn't eat too much meat anyways, a little chicken and pork hear and there... Any whoo today I made an awesome(if I should say so myself) vegetable/shrimp lasagna... I'm trying to write the recipe and will post when I've completed it.. Peace

del.icio.us

I think del.icio.us is a fabulous resource!! I've seen the icon alot lately but never knew what it was for... I think it's great, everything linked all together in one place that can be accessed anywhere... I'm not too heavy into the internet so unfortunately I didn't really have too much to bookmark, but it's nice to have this now so I'm able to save sites as I feel necessary.

The Generator Blog

I'm pretty familiar with the online generators, although I had no idea there were so many.... so it was great to have a bunch all on one site... I used The Generator Blog http://generatorblog.blogspot.com/ and had a ton of fun.... One that I thought would be helpful here in the teen center was the Venn Diagram Generator, it's a great resource for students when studying..

Most of the feeds I found interesting to me were found right in bloglines... heres my url incase anyones curious..... http://www.bloglines.com/public/HMoonier

Technology

I'm not a big fan of computers, but...... I love my iPod... Im able to have my entire music collection(except for my records) all in one place... Oh also, gotta love Big 'ol Flat screen TV's..... But whats the deal with HD, not really impressed.....

Thing #6

This confused me ALOT!! The one I did find interesting was Flickr World Map... I would like to set this up on my blog once I get some more pictures on the computer...

Learning Flickr

I created an account with Flickr today--- Now I will be able to post pictures from Knowasis events on my blog...
